You might want to look into sending things home via Greyhound. If you could get to a suburb of LA (or wherever, you wouldn't have to deal with downtown traffic, or if you or your husband could drive around the block while the other takes a box in, it might be pretty cheap. That was our solution when my son needed a suit for a funeral to get to Fort Worth from Atlanta on a Friday. (The funeral was on Monday.) I later moved to Santa for a year and sent some things there that way.

Wait, Mercari is accepting returns? I just purchased a pair of shorts that the seller had shrank, but still sold them as the size that is marked inside the clothing label. I went through all the steps to return them, however, Mercari refused stating that the seller had fulfilled her obligations. I believe the seller was aware that the item was already shrank before mailing as she had contacted me after the sale stating that they were 100% cotton and not to put them in the dryer. However, she had obviously already shrank the item. Considering unlisting all my items and moving them to Poshmark and never buying from Mercari again.

So what's the difference between posh and whautnot?

My tip is communication is key. When my shipments were going to be late, i emailed my customers and told them the shipments would be sent late due to me being in the hospital and i gave them the option to cancel/refund or if they were ok waiting. My customers were fine waiting and really appreciated the communication.😊

If they are paying you upfront its not consignment its resale. Completely different and something to consider when selling because they are paying you up front for your items that aren’t even guaranteed to sell whereas a consignment shop you have to wait for your items to sell etc.

To elaborate on what Becky is saying, great video BTW, eBay has become a buyer oriented platform. There is a lot of scammers that have figured this out. When they lie about returns and are caught, they will leave negative feedback that eBay will not take down. The reason you will receive for this is 'buyers have the right to comment on their view of their experience'. As a seller, you do not have that right. Feedback is also not dependent on your service as a seller anymore, it is basically social media. The 30 day return policy doesn't hold up either. I've been forced to accept returns long past that. Buyers will also open cases with credit cards. You will lose! The authentication process, also forced by eBay, is not trustworthy. I had items that failed and the authenticy department couldn't even prove it was my item they reviewed! They also do not carefully package your item when it is returned to you. Bottom line, take your own photos, write accurate descriptions including what is NOT included,, and don't be surprised when the photos aren't viewed and your careful wording is not read. eBay will still side with the buyer. I've been selling on eBay since 1995 and find it now very stressful and not as profitable. Why still do it? My client base is so large that I can't quit right now, but I hope to very soon. Like Becky, I am a top seller. I had 100% postive feedback until this year, when eBay changed their view on that system. Best of luck to all newbies on this platform and don't quit your day job!

Do not leave more than $50 in Mercari account longer than a few days. I’ve had my account nearly banned due to an algorithm mistake. I had no access to my money for a while. Pay the $2 fee and get your money OUT! Your fault or not, you maybe lose access to your account and good luck getting your money.

Do they absorb the cost of shipping? Sounds like you will have to send them tons of items to make it worth it

I started with reselling two years ago but haven't done a lot with selling. I am going to restart but I would like to know if you use a spreadsheet like excel for putting everything you get or how do you keep track of what you sell.

Great haul Becky! Just for future reference, gymshark has been putting the size tag inside the leg. Idk if you already knew that or not, but just thought I would share in case you didn't because it threw me off as well when I found that out lol

I think a good way to combat the “pulling out money” is just to keep the balance there. I resell and I keep the balance there to shop with and say I spend $25 of my mercari credits- I then go to my bank account and move $25 from my checking to savings and it’s like I “spent” my own money but I’m avoiding the mercari fees. It’s just a good hack I use :)

I use the Google app, click the camera icon in the search bar, and then it opens my camera and I snap a pic and it searches. I think that's faster than the way you did it, and you don't end up with a bunch of random pics in your camera roll.
